Local Communications Provider Receives Naming Privileges For 20 Years, Building to be called The HTC Center
August 2, 2012, Conway, S.C. ? Representatives of Coastal Carolina University (CCU) today announced that Horry Telephone Cooperative (HTC) Inc., the local leader in communications services, has partnered with the University for the naming rights to the new Student Recreation and Convocation Center, which will be called
The HTC Center. In an agreement with the Chanticleer Athletic Foundation, HTC will receive exclusive naming privileges for a 20-year time frame.
As part of the partnership, HTC has and will continue to provide some complimentary services such as wiring and technical assistance, and financial support to assist CCU with it ever expanding campus needs. The new facility is scheduled to officially open concurrent with CCU?s upcoming fall semester.
?There are two driving factors for growing our partnership arrangement with CCU. First is the ongoing business relationship that HTC has enjoyed with the University for almost 60 years. Second is the overall impact CCU has on a local and regional basis. CCU is one of our largest business customers as an institution not to mention that many faculty, staff and students also have the opportunity for HTC services,? said HTC Chief Executive Officer Mike Hagg. ?From an economic perspective, CCU is a great resource for the community with the jobs they create, the research that they provide, and the social opportunities that they provide through sports, cultural events and other on-campus events hosted by the University. The HTC Center will add another venue as these events continue to grow.?
In addition to exterior and interior signage, HTC will also receive sponsorship exposure on the Chanticleer playing courts where HTC logos will appear, along with video board impressions stationed throughout the building.
Built to accommodate the quickly changing needs of CCU students, the new HTC Center will provide: a wide-range of recreational amenities; a new home for the Chanticleer basketball and volleyball programs; and house the new university bookstore. In time, the HTC Center will also become a community resource featuring concerts, special events and other potential public gatherings.
Designed by the Garvin Design Group of Columbia, the HTC Center houses more than 131,000 square feet of state-of-the-art equipment and resources with a contemporary look and atmosphere. The convocation portion of the building will be the home for CCU basketball and volleyball teams and will seat 3,200 fans.
The recreation portion of the center will include The Chanticleer Store, CCU?s bookstore, which has moved from Baxley Hall into a larger, two-floor space in the Center and is now open. Additional recreational facilities include and indoor track, multiple aerobics and exercise studios, weightlifting equipment, a rock climbing wall and a concession area.
Funds for the construction of the facility were provided by local sales tax initiatives, reserve funds and bond sales and the Horry County Higher Education Commission.
?We can?t say enough about the valuable partnership we have with HTC. This is more than just a sponsorship, but symbolizes what is already a deep business relationship. Our campus relies on HTC services and infrastructure every day and we are thrilled that they have joined us in launching this new student-centered facility,? said CCU President Dr. Dave DeCenzo.
?On behalf of the Chanticleer Athletic Foundation, we could never demonstrate enough gratitude toward HTC for stepping up and signifying their commitment to CCU and our community in such a public way. We thank HTC Executive Staff, Board of Directors, and all the members who we hope will view this partnership with pride. This support allows us to provide a very exceptional facility for the University for many, many years to come,? said Mark Roach, Executive Director of the Chanticleer Athletic Foundation.
